I just can’t with this. Because the more times I see it I remember that Kili Is Fili’s baby brother.

It’s his BABY BROTHER! He will always be and I can just see that in Fili’s eyes all the time! And it hurts!

Dean O’Gorman just captures this perfectly and so does Aiden Turner. You can just see the devastation in Kili’s eyes because Fili have always protected him and know he’s alone and he doesn’t know what to do.

Ah, I can’t with this anymore. I’m gonna cry. Well, shit.

If you can hurl all your feels out in this post, then so can I.

For me, I somehow almost get the feeling their twins, if you know what I mean? I don’t have siblings (that count like this) myself so I guess I can’t really understand but I just see them as so inseparable and dependent of each other that I… nope, not gonna think about this any longer.

FUN FACT THOUGH: when I watched the film again yesterday and saw this scene I noticed that it’s not actually Thorin who calls out “Kili!” at the end of it! At least it didn’t seem like it, rather like it was someone standing closer to him like Bofur OR one of the others when they were united again. Could’ve been Fili. Could’ve. Don’t start talking to me about voices because they are all from Husky Husky Land those boys and there was a thunderstorm and idk, I LIKE TO THINK THAT IT WAS FILI AND IF IT WASN’T FOR BILBO WE WOULD HAVE SEEN THEIR REUNION HUG.

CURSES, BILBO, CURSESSSS.

In my head it’s now Fili screaming Kili’s name. It’s decided.

Although, on the subject of twins and fun facts!

Sometimes I feel like their twins aswell. But I think that Kili is more childish and Fili seems like the kind of brother that tries to act all mature because he’s setting an example (even though he’s really not). But that could just be that he was born first. I should know, I was born 8 days before my cousin but I still make a deal out of me being older.

But then I read that Fili was born TA 2859 and Kili was born TA 2864, making him five years younger. It’s apparently taken from Appendix A from Tolkiens own work. Meaning that they are not twins. But I still think it’s legit to think so if one wants to. Both makes sense and doesn’t get in the way of the plot or the fact that they are brothers til the very end.

I still prefer Fili being older though.

And now that I’ve dumped that nugget of information.

I read that Fili and Kili was 82 and 77.

First off, kudos to Mr Jackson for not thinking: meh, they’re adults! They can be rough, experienced dwarfs.

No, he thought this through… Because the human equivalant of their dwarf years is apparently 19 and 18. They are 19 and 18! Off cource they’re gonna be all exited and riddiculous. They’re kids!

Now here’s the sad, horrible part about this. This means they were 19 and 18 when they died. Okay, I’m done now. This is horrible!

IT IS LAW.

Oh yeah, those facts are legit (calculating all characters’ age with pen and pencil in 2002, holla) and I knew they’re not twins, it’s just a feeling I got from their closeness blablah. But at the same time I do get the feeling that Fili is the oldest, I think his character description in the Visual Companion also states that he “feels more responsible since he is number two in line for the throne” and urrrrgh. THEY WERE TOTALLY KIDS, WHICH IS WHY IT’S SO NOT OKAY. ACTUAL MOST IRRESPONSIBLE UNCLE EVER THORIN OAKENSHILED alt. ACTUAL WORST HEIR OF DURIN EVER FOR NOT PRO-CREATING AND DRAGGING ALL POSSIBLE HEIRS ONTO A BATTLEFIELD THORIN OAKENSHIELD.

It’s just, look at your gramps, Thorin! He though his line lay secured with his son and his grandson AND THEN THE firenation DRAGON ATTACKED. Actual most stupid dwarf in the history of ever Thorin Oakenshield. :( (not saying that I directly dislike Dain or anything but it’s a tad unfair that he just WALKS INTO EREBOR. Secondly, he’ll be played by Billy Connolly who makes great promo for the films by saying things like “OH GOD NO I DON’T LIKE TOLKIEN AND I HATE PEOPLE WHO DO, SUCH DORKS” because srsly there’re a ton of great Irish dwarves in these movies and here you are RUINING EVERYTHING.)

Sorry, got a bit sidetracked, where was I? Oh, yeah, Fili and Kili. 

Part of me thinks that Tolkien decided that he couldn’t make either of them king (?) and as such he *had* to kill them seeing as they were next in line. And in a way I’m grateful for that because you know what?

He could have only killed one of them.

He could have left one alive alone.

He could have done a Rowling.

They could have been the original Fred and George.
